This watch is a collector legend and you never see them… because they only made 5! The San Marco Cutty Sark in platinum case and with colorful cloisonné dial. Reserved, refined, discrete, elite and elusive. The exclusivity and rarity of this watch can’t be overstated. Case is 37mm diameter with sapphire crystal and stepped lugs. Case back is engraved with the St. Mark’s Lion, which is the San Marco model’s logo, and the model number ‘139-70-9’ along with the watch’s limited edition number 3-5. Being all about the dial, this case is simple and draws the eye right to the colorful enamel work. Cloisonne depiction of the legendary Cutty Sark, which was one of the last clipper ships ever to be built, in 1869. The Cutty Sark enjoyed all of the latest technology of the time and, indeed, held the record for the fastest transit time between Australia and Britain for ten years! This was the advent of the steam ship period, so these clipper ships were soon retired from commercial use. My color vocabulary isn’t rich enough to cite all of the colors in this dial, but they are many and it is beautiful. Cloisonne is the art of hard baking enamel, and every dial is hand made by real artisans. If this were a Patek cloisonné dial watch, you could multiply the price by 10x.
