Description
Here is a decidedly interesting, not to mention beautiful, vintage Rolex Day Date from 1970. The original papers set is unique because the Guarantee booklet actually is stamped “SOLD WITH LEATHER STRAP”, which we have not seen before. Not only is this watch accompanied by the double set of punched papers, it also has the exceedingly original 1970 Day Date brochure.
Original 18k case is 36mm diameter by 12.2mm thick. Screw down crown and plastic crystal. I love these rare textured finish cases. This one is the Florentine pattern. As rare as it is to find an original Florentine case, even this watch is unique, because the Florentine engraving is not only on the top surface of the lugs, it is also on the horizontal surfaces of the top of the case. Normally, decorative engraving is only on the lugs.
Original champagne pie-pan dial with applied hour markers, and full day on display at 12 o’clock and date at 3 o’clock.
Rolex automatic winding Caliber 1556 with 26 jewels and adjusted to five positions and temperature. This movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer and is running. Inside case back shows an extensive service history and the movement is absolutely pristine.
New old stock unworn vintage Rolex brown lizard strap with Rolex buckle.
