Description
Talk about an important wristwatch! At a time when the vintage Royal Oak market is exploding upward, here is a spectacularly rare and perfectly preserved, mint++, A serial, first production Royal Oak in stainless steel with so-called “Khanjar” dial, produced for His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said.
Case is never polished with serial number ‘A 99X’ making this watch one of the first 1,000 Royal Oak watches to ever be produced. Featuring its iconic octagonal bezel, metal-sandwich case, with exposed structural screws and integral bracelet, this watch has it all. The Royal Oak has never been held in higher esteem in the collectors market as it is right now, at the turn of 2017. I daresay it would be close to impossible to find a more collectable Royal Oak than this Jumbo.
Original untouched black dial notable not only for the “Khanjar” daggers above 6 o’clock, which all by itself this insignia would make this watch uber collectable, but also because unlike other Royal Oak dials, the surface of the dial is completely flat. Royal Oak dials are known for their mini-tapisserie guilloche. However, given that the Sultantate wanted the emblem on the dial and diamond markers, Audemars Piguet designed this dial just for him. Hands are original baton hands.
Movement is automatic winding Audemars Piguet Caliber 2121 with 36 jewels. Date at 3 o’clock.
Bracelet is integral to the case and made by Gay Freres for Audemars Piguet. Clasp is stamped with Gay Freres signature and also date code of ‘1 72’.
This incredible watch is as crisp as the day it left the factory!
