The Explorer is as pure a tool watch as exists. It was designed specifically for mountain climbers. Accordingly, it needed to fit underneath the layered clothing of the climbers; it needed to be light; it needed to be rugged as all get out; it needed to be easily read in all conditions; and, finally, it needed to be accurate. Rolex nailed it on all accounts. This watch is special because of its Tiffany & Co. co-signed dial. Steel case is 35mm and no frills. Smooth bezel. Screw down case back and crown. Domed plastic crystal. Black Tiffany & Co. co-signed dial with the Explorer’s famous 3-6-9 dial with the inverted arrow at 12 o’clock to keep the wearer oriented with the position of the watch. Rolex Chronometer certified Caliber 1560 with 25 jewels. Movement is clean and running. Rolex folded link Oyster bracelet.
