Even if you are not in the market for this watch, I hope everyone who views this listing will take 5 minutes to appreciate it. This is extremely rare… it’s among the first 18k white gold Royal Oak Jumbo watches ever made. Take a look at the bezel, with diamonds inset into the side instead of the top as in later models. You can discern immediately that you are looking at a white gold vintage Royal Oak and not a steel watch. The watch and bracelet have a lighter color than a steel watch. Case is 39mm by 7mm thin. That’s astonishingly thin for an automatic winding watch! Sapphire crystal, integral 18k white gold bracelet… serial number 13X. It’s all here – an AMAZING vintage Royal Oak! When Gerald Genta first designed the Royal Oak, it was scandalously expensive for a steel wristwatch. What many people don’t know is that it was also cost prohibitive for AP to make such an intricately executed case out of stainless steel. So, AP used white gold instead. Who knows if these first white gold Jumbo Royal Oaks are actually the prototypes with a serial number added? Tropical dial, with its anthracite dial turning brown, with diamond hour markers, original white gold baton hands and date window at 3 o’clock. Movement is the automatic winding Audemars Piguet Caliber 2121 with 36 jewels, balance adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and in 5 positions and with 21k gold winding rotor. Watch gets even better, as it has original box and papers! This is a crazy rare watch and a beauty as well!
