This is by far the rarest and most collectable of all the Daytona models. The 6240 introduced the screw-down chronograph pushers and it was only available in limited quantities starting in 1965 alongside the 6239/6241 pump-pusher (non-screw-down) models. The 6240 was discontinued when the models 6263 and 6265 debuted. The 6240 was the first water-proof Daytona and, as such, is one of the most important Rolex watches.
Original stainless steel case measures 37.5mm in diameter and is approx 14mm thick, with black bezel with Units per Hour scale, domed plastic crystal, screw down crown and screw down chronograph pushers. Take a gander at the beautiful patina on the chrono pushers. Serial number 1659XXX dates production to 1967.
Original and completely untouched mint black three color Paul Newman dial. The absence of the word ‘OYSTER’ is consistent with earlier production 6240 models. As previously mentioned, the 6240 production was extremely limited.
Original manual winding Rolex Caliber 722-1 with 17 jewels and adjusted in three positions, with column wheel construction, and runs as good as new.
Rolex folded link Oyster bracelet is in excellent condition. This is a watch that all serious collectors dream of having in their collection. .
