As I’ve said before, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak defines and dominates its category, in this case high-end sports watches. The Royal Oak is an instant collection of just one watch, which attests to its owner's good taste, sophistication and status.
Case is 18K rose gold and measures 39mm in diameter by 9.9mm thick. Sapphire crystal with sapphire display back crystal. Screw down octagonal crown. Of course, the real story with any Royal Oak is its characteristic octagonal bezel with exposed structural white gold screws. All of the principal surfaces of the case are brush finished except for the beveled surfaces, which are polished. The fit and finish of a Royal Oak is a thing to behold. The case is water resistant to 50 meters.
Dial is dark blue with Clous de Paris engraving, applied luminous hour markers and hands. Date is displayed at 3 o'clock.
Movement for this watch is the automatic winding Audemars Piguet Caliber 2121 with 36 jewels and beating at 19,800 vibrations per hour. Winding rotor is skeletonized rose gold with a 22k segment for increased mass. Power reserve of up to 40 hours.
