Description
This watch is just so nice it’s ridiculous. Talk about a to die for timepiece! Audemars Piguet has made countless versions of the Royal Oak since the esteemed (and late RIP) Gerald Genta designed this classic in the early 1970s. This Royal Oak features a platinum case and bracelet, a skeletonized dial and automatic winding. Note that AP still makes this watch, but with different dial and different model number. This is a C serial number case with model number 25636.
Royal Oak watches are all about the case. This UNPOLISHED platinum case features three beveled edges. The most prominent is on the bezel, while the other two are on the top and bottom edges of the case. These beveled edges are mirror polished while the remainder of the case surfaces are brush finished. The screws visible on the bezel are not just there for the looks; they penetrate the entire case and hold the watch together. The bezel on the Royal Oak is its most defining feature. The bracelet is integral to the case. Sapphire crystal. Case dimensions are 39mm wide by 9mm thick.
A skeletonized watch never has a dial, properly speaking. However, the watch does have a transparent disc in front with blue chapter rings for the calendar functions including the moonphase and is signed Audemars Piguet. Original white gold baton hands.
Movement is the automatic winding Audemars Piguet Caliber 2120/2802 with 38 jewels. Winding rotor with 21k gold segment. Movement is adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and in 5 positions.
Royal Oak bracelet also with beveled edge and fold-over deployment clasp.
