First introduced by Breitling in 1952, the Navitimer was designed for pilots and was the dawn of the chronomat. The watch you see here (Ref 806) was the first of the Navitimers and became the official watch for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) AOPA.
Case is 41mm in diameter. Classic two-button chrono pusher construction. Start/Stop at the 2 o’clock position and reset at the 4 o’clock position. Solid Caseback. Using the bezel and current position of the sun, you can even use the Navitimer as a compass.
A very busy, yet easy to read dial. Three silver subdials; small seconds at the 9 o’clock, minutes at the 3 o’clock and hours at the 6 o’clock position. Date window rests between the 4 and 5 o’clock.
Powered by the famous manual wind Valjoux 72 movement, which was the original for these watches, then subsequent pieces made use of the Venus 178.
A genuine pilots watch with numerous helpful functions, especially back in the day if you were an active pilot.
