BREITLING REF 806 NAVITIMER MADE FOR IRAQI AIRFORCE

Breitling partnered with the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) in the early 1950’s to bring attention to its chronomat and make the watch more relevant to pilots. The early examples came with all black dials. Eventually the subdials became white to increase contrast and make the dial easier to read.

Stainless steel case measures 43mm in diameter and is approx 13mm thick.  Classic two-button chrono pusher construction.  Start/Stop at the 2 o’clock position and reset at the 4 o’clock position. Solid Caseback with the IQAF (Iraqi Airforce) insignia engraved on the caseback. The lug width is approx 22mm. Using the bezel and current position of the sun, you can even use the Navitimer as a compass.

A busy yet easy to read black dial with beautiful patina on the subdials as well as the chrono pushers.  Small seconds at the 9 o’clock, minutes at the 3 o’clock and hours at the 6 o’clock position.

Movement for this watch is the manual-winding chronograph caliber Venus 178.
