The vintage Lang & Sohne B-Uhren is an incredible piece if WWII history. These aviation watches guided bombers throughout the sky’s. A total of no more then five manufactures supplied the B-Uhren and those were A. Lang & Sohne, Lachner & Company, Wempe and Walter Storz, as well as one additional Swiss manufacturer.
Large stainless steel case measures 55mm in diameter. The watch features a large onion shaped crown, making it easy to use wearing gloves. Inside the case had an iron core to protect the movement and making the watch anti-magnetic, ideal for aviation.
Original black dial is extremely legible and easy to read, which of course was done on purpose. Large sward hands covered in luminous material. Arabic numerals are every 5 minutes from ‘5 to55’. The dial also features an outer chapter ring for minutes and seconds and an inner chapter ring for the hours. Having both of these chapter rings is indicative of the later type B mode, starting in 1941.
Large hand wound movement encased within an iron core as previously mentioned, making the watch anti-magnetic.
These historic pilots watches are incredibly rare and collectable and this example is no exception.
