I mean c’mon, where else can you find an automatic 18k gold chronograph with manufacture movement from a top brand under $10,000? New old stock condition, no less! How about if I throw in that it has a case reminiscent of an early Patek Philippe 2499 with stepped/contoured lugs and 18k oval chronograph pushers? Mmmm delicious.
Original never polished 18k gold case measures 40mm diameter by 14.2mm thick. Crystal is gently domed sapphire. Crown screws down for water resistance. Case is constructed from three parts: a generously sized smooth bezel, massive mid-body, and screw back. Once again, the lugs are contoured, which is a sophisticated design touch. The case has developed a rich patina, which gives it a darker gold hue and also means the lugs have not lost their original shape.
Original white dial has sunken and gold traced subdials: one for constant seconds, one for the chronograph’s 30 minute totalizer and the other for the chronograph’s 12 hour totalizer. There is a date window in the 6 o’clock subdial. Applied golden hour markers and gold hands with luminous. The subdial hands are blued.
Movement is the automatic winding IWC Caliber 7901 with 25 jewels, 44 hour power reserve and beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour. If you know IWC, you know their watch movements are the highest quality. IWC maintains an engineering culture, and their calibers are built to be accurate workhorses.
Watch is on an IWC light brown alligator strap with 18k IWC tang buckle. Watch will be delivered in IWC box.
