The Cosmic collection was introduced by Omega in 1947 and remained in production until 1956. At the time, it was one of, if not THE most exclusive watches the brand could offer. Available in two sizes (34-35mm and 37.5mm) and in four different case materials.
Case is 18k yellow gold measuring 35mm in dimension and approx 6mm thick. Curved gold lugs hold the brown leather strap in place. All pieces from the Cosmic collection came on leather straps with matching buckles.
The dial has a fairly simple layout. Champaign golden dial with white ring around it with blue numbers indicating the date. Moonphase aperture at 6 o’clock, which also serves as the sub seconds dial where the hand runs over the moonphase disk. The day and month window are next to each other under the logo at the 12 o’clock position. As mentioned before, the date runs around the rim of the dial in blue with a pointer hand showing the correct number. Golden hour markers are also featured with ‘12’ being the only number on the dial.
The Cosmic collection only used one movement, the Caliber 381, also precisely known as the 27 DL PC AM. The official full name of the movement was 381 17 DC PC AM 17P. DL stands for the triple date/moonphase, PC refers to the shock absorber, AM=antimagnetic, 27 comes from the size of the movement and 17 meaning 17 jewels. Watch beats at 18,000 VPH.
A true classic Omega and in MINT condition.
