Patek Philippe started a very special series of watches in 2005, named Advanced Research, which introduced a technological breakthrough in the movement. The 2005 watch has the model number 5250, with white gold case, and introduced the Silinvar escape wheel. The 5350 is in rose gold, introduced in 2006, and introduced the Spiromax balance spring while incorporating the Silinvar escape wheel. The 5450 is from 2008 and introduced the Pulsomax escapement, while incorporating the Spiromax balance and Silinvar escape wheel. Only 300 5450s were made. Platinum case measures 39mm diameter by 11.7mm thick. Sapphire front and display back crystals. The display back crystal is signed "ADVANCED RESEARCH" and has a built in magnifying glass over the parts being introduced in this limited series (which is very cool). Dial is salmon colored and the annual calendar's many displays are presented legibly, and include: day, month, date, moon phase and power reserve. Feuille style hands with luminous and applied hour markers and '12', '3' and '9'. Movement is the Patek Philippe automatic winding Caliber 324, stamped with the Geneva Seal, with 34 jewels, the aforementioned innovations, and is adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and adjusted to 5 positions. Rotor is 21k with zirconium ball bearings. Strap is brown Patek crocodile with platinum Patek deployant clasp. This is an exceptional collector's opportunity.
