Rare and appealing Patek Philippe Ellipse jumbo Ref 3605. Launched in 1968, the original Ellipse attracted attention from its elliptical case shape, a sort of hybrid between an oval and a rectangle. By the late 1970’s, the collection encompassed 65 different references.
Featuring a thin 18k yellow gold case, the watch measures 38x33mm. Case is signed. The 3605 was the largest model ever made by Patek and was the inspiration behind the related ref 3738.
The dial is a gorgeous vibrant brown color. The Ellipse is a very minimalistic watch, but also very elegant at the same time. Watch is double signed Beyer and displaying Dauphine hands. The dazzling color of the dials on the Ellipse gave them a unique character of their own.
Movement on this timepiece is the automatic Cal.28 255c with 36 jewels. The Patek Philippe jumbo Nautilus ref 3700 shared this same ultra-thin movement.
Thin black crocodile leather strap in excellent shape with 18k gold buckle.
A true Patek Philippe classic that just recently turned 50 years old.
