The very collectable Patek Philippe Reference 96 was the first ever Calatrava introduced in 1932. This watch was the blueprint and model to follow in the creation of brilliant high-end dress watches to follow.
Three-part 18k rose gold case measures 31mm in diameter and is approx 9mm thick. The ref 96 features a flat polished bezel and snap-on caseback. The lugs are tapered for maximum comfort on the wrist and the crystal is plastic.
Original rose gold colored dial with original dauphine hands. The ref 96 was known for its beautiful yet minimalist dial design. Subsidiary seconds subdial at the 6 o’clock and features dotted outer minute track and rose gold baton style hour markers. Case, dial and movement are signed.
Movement for this watch is the original manual winding Patek Philippe 12’120 with 18 jewels and adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and to 5 positions. Previous to 1934, the ref 96 used a 12-ligne movement from LeCoultre until Patek introduced their own in-house Caliber.
This watch is in excellent condition and is completely original. This is a very important piece of early Patek Philippe history that helped build the brand to what it is today.
