You won't find me saying this very often, but this watch should have a higher price! IWC is one of the watch industry's most admired and respected manufactures. The minute repeater is one of watchdom's hallowed complications. Every other genuine manufacture who makes a minute repeater prices their models well-north of $100,000. Yet IWC makes one of the nicer minute repeaters on the market and they price it at $71,000. Even at the retail price, this watch is a good deal.
Case is 43mm in diameter (not including the repeater slide or crown) and 14mm thick. It is well-proportioned, and while the watch is large, it is elegant and very handsome. Cast in 18kt yellow gold on an excellent, padded medium brown IWC strap with 18kt gold IWC buckle.
Dial is silver with finely embossed rose gold arabic numerals and a subsidiary seconds dial.
The caliber in this watch is magnificently rendered, aesthetically and mechanically. The purity and clarity of the repeater tone is a sound for the ages. You know, we are watch nerds here, and we have something akin to a wine tasting, when we pull out all of the repeaters and compare the tones. I'll put the quality of the IWC's repeater tone right up against any other manufacture's repeater. It's that nice. The manual winding Caliber 95290 has 54 jewels and is adjusted to 5 positions. The tasteful finishing of the caliber is a beautiful sight to behold.
