Description
We have received a few Bedat watches as part of a much larger deal. I had no idea that Bedat made such a pretty watch. Okay, so not many men are looking for a pretty watch, but this watch doesn't pretend to be a sports watch. Instead, it's a rectangular art-deco style watch, with unexpectedly high quality design details and a subtle, but beautiful, blue dial.
Let's start with the dial. It is a rich hue of blue with a subtle, wave pattern guilloche. There is a rectangular shaped minutes chapter in the center, with a date window at 6 o'clock. The word "Bedat" is spelled out inside of the minutes chapter. Surrounding the minutes chapter are art deco style arabic numerals, which are expertly painted over the guilloche. The number '4' has the word "Automatic" as its vertical pillar, while the number '8' has "Bedat & Co." underneath it.
The movement is an automatic Bedat caliber.
The stainless steel case and bracelet feature truly excellent parts and workmanship. The case is mostly polished except for the horizontal segments, which are brush finished. The vertical case lines are concave, and the lugs have rounded shoulders. The length of the case, along the inner surface, is ergonomically curved. Case dimensions are 42mm in length (including the lugs) by 25mm wide by 8mm thick. Signed Bedat crown.
Bracelet is polished steel, with 7 part links. The flexibility (read: comfort) of this bracelet is outstanding. The clasp has a security button, and will not pop open unexpectedly. Bracelet will fit up to a 9.5 inch wrist.
I am blown away by the quality of this Bedat # 7. Outstanding quality and good looks! Watch is new with box and papers. Retail price is $2,900.
