Description
I lived in Madrid, Spain for 6 years and grew to appreciate the matador's art and the history of bullfighting. Like it or not, it's a tradition stretching back at least 1500 years, and it's worth recognizing the impact and artistic contribution that bullfighting has made to the Spanish culture. So, I was very excited to encounter these rare watches from Corum with a depiction of a matador "passing" a toro, and his red cape twisting, along with the bull, around him. This is the classical representation of a matador and bull, in Spanish art, at the moment where the bull and man are only inches from each other and their figures merge into one.
The dial is green with a radiant background pattern. The depiction of man and bull is one applied gold figurine with 7 black diamonds, 14 rubies and 9 garnets.
Movement is an ETA caliber 2892 with 21 jewels. This is ETA's highest grade automatic movement and is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
The watch features a diamond bezel and diamond lugs along with an 18k rose gold diamond set deployant clasp. The watch case has 107 diamonds with a total weight of 2.49 carats.
The 18k rose gold case is massive. Dimensions are 42mm diameter by 12mm thick. Sapphire crystals front and back. Crown features a .2 carat pink sapphire. Strap is thick, hand-sewn black crocodile.
This is really a wonderful watch. It is extremely limited, interesting, fascinating, stylish, beautiful and expertly made. You can't ask for much more from a watch!
