ROLEX VINTAGE 18K SUBMARINER 1680 BLACK DIAL

There is something unmistakably regal about an 18k Rolex sports watch, especially the 1680 Submariner. Check out the dial - this is the dial Rolex used for only a few years, before they switched over to the modern style of hour markers, which are luminous circles surrounded by a thin gold border. The hour markers on this dial complement the gold case much more flatteringly, in my opinion. They are applied gold disks with a pyramid shape (wider at the bottom and they taper toward the top) with luminous only at the tips. And check out that awesome applied arrow head marker at 12 o'clock. The markers on this dial create a depth effect; its a very handsome dial on a very handsome watch. The dial is original.

The 18k yellow gold case has dimensions of 40mm in diameter by 14mm thick. Acrylic crystal. Screw down crown is working smoothly and perfectly. Despite showing traces of wear, the case appears to be in its "full metal" with fat lugs and crisp lines. Case # 25476XX dates this watch to 1970.

Movement is the Rolex automatic winding Caliber 1570, one of the most accurate automatic movements ever built by any manufacture. Maintained properly, many caliber 1570s keep time to within 1 or 2 seconds per day after 20+ years.
