Description
Finding a Rolex Day Date reference 1802 (smooth bezel) is difficult enough, but try finding one in platinum. Impossible!... until now. Here is an 1802, in platinum, with a blue factory diamond dial with a red insignia of Oman. The case back is marked "Asprey".
The dial is extremely clean. It is the "pie pan" dial, where the edges of the dial slope away from the main surface. The dial finish is a radial brush pattern, which creates a subtle sunburst effect which is dazzling in direct sunlight. The diamonds are large and very high quality. This is obviously a special edition watch, with the insignia of Oman, and it's possible that Rolex used larger diamonds.
The platinum case is also very clean and fresh. I would grade the case as mint++. The original case edges are intact and the case is free from anything but the absolutely most trivial traces of wear. I do not believe it has ever been polished. It's more than likely this watch sat in a safe until we bought it. The platinum bracelet is also very clean and shows only slight stretch. Bracelet has a hidden clasp and will fit up to a 7.5 inch wrist.
Movement is the Rolex automatic winding Caliber 1555.
