Description
Grey dials, in my opinion, complement most any wardrobe and all colors of clothing... plus, there are not all that many grey dial watches out there. Patek, being Patek, makes the nicest grey dial of any manufacturer and this Gondolo annual calendar reference 5135 was the first Patek to "wear" the grey dial. Patek invented the annual calendar complication, as a nod toward younger upscale watch customers, in the 1990s. At the time, collecting Swiss watches was not the phenomenon that it is today -- and potential customers in their 30s and 40s had a hard time justifying the price of a perpetual calendar wristwatch. The annual calendar was just what the horological doctor (with a degree in marketing, no doubt) orderred. Today, the annual calendar is no longer a junior complication; it is arguably as important to Patek as the more time honored perpetual calendar.

Case is 18k white gold, in a hybrid cushion-tonneau shape, with dimensions: 40mm long, by 38mm wide, by 12mm thick (lugs and crown not included). With the extended lugs, this watch wears large. Water resistant to 25 meters.

Dial is grey, with the inner-ring featuring concentric circle guilloche; applied white gold hour markers and the "3" and "9"; beginning from the calendar window near 10 o'clock is the day, date at 12 o'clock, and month near 2 o'clock. Moonphase at 6 o'clock, and there is a 24 hour indicator hand revolving around the moonphase dial.
Movement is the automatic winding PP Caliber 324 S with 34 jewels and a 45 hour power reserve. The Geneva Seal is stamped on the movement, made visible by the sapphire display back.

Strap is crocodile with an 18k Patek Philippe tang buckle
