Description
The Rolex reference 8171, named the "Padellone" by Italian collectors, is a very rare and collectable vintage Rolex watch. Presenting a triple calendar, with day, month, date and moonphase, this reference 8171 is cased in stainless steel. Production of the reference 8171 was produced from 1949 to 1952. Stainless steel examples are more rare than 18k yellow gold versions.
Movement is the Rolex Caliber 10, which is automatic winding and a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer with 18 jewels.
Case is stainless steel with dimensions of 37.6mm diameter by 14.3mm thick. Domed acrylic crystal. Bezel slopes sharply downward. Massive screw on back. This watch "wears" larger than its dimensions suggest.
Dial is original with a creamy silver color. The date scale at the outer periphery of the dial, date hand and moonphase are blue. Subsidiary seconds scale around the moonphase. Day and month windows underneath the Rolex coronet at 12 o'clock.
The overall conditon of this watch is mint+. It is very clean all around and is running strong.
