Description
While my personal taste in vintage Rolex watches runs more toward the Submariners and Day Dates, even I could not resist wearing this watch for a few hours this morning. It's just PERFECT and all original. This 6610 presents with the most perfectly matched patina I have ever seen on a wristwatch. Vintage Explorer 1s are in vogue, and this one is really a special treat.
Original case is stainless steel with dimensions of 35.5mm diameter by 13mm thick. Domed acrylic crystal. Screw down crown operating smoothly. Overall, the case is mint with only trivial signs of use - certainly no serious dings or scratches.
The original dial is to die for. The gilt dial is original and features a rail minutes chapter. The original hands have patinaed to perfectly match the luminous and the gilt text. Even after handling hundreds of vintage Rolex watches, I find this dial exciting.
Original movement is the Rolex automatic caliber 1030 with butterfly rotor with 25 jewels and adjusted to 5 positions and temperature. Movement is clean and perfect.
Case number 2689XX dates production to 1957 and the caseback confirms this.
