Description
This Patek Philippe Sculpture, reference 5091, is unlike any other model Patek has ever produced. Also known as the so called "Russian Watch", the 5091 was produced in the late 1990s and only a few were made.
Case is 18k yellow gold with dimensions of 39mm diameter, not including the elaborate crown assembly, by 10.5mm thick. Speaking of the crown assembly, this little device is masterfully executed and looks remarkably like a miniature king's hat. The crown has seven blue enamel inlays and a notched edge, and sits inside a protective gold frame which lifts up and down along with the crown itself. The crystal is sapphire. It is easy to see why this watch is called the Sculpture -- the case lines are very fluid and progressive by Patek standards.
Dial is silver with several unique design elements. The minutes chapter is comprised of printed squares. The hour markers are applied gold roman numerals which sit atop a ring made from engraved vertical channels. The innermost area of the dial is a swirling pattern of engraved rectangles, which decrease in area with every row as the rows approach the center of the dial. The roman numerals and hands have generous luminous. Date window at 3 o'clock.
Movement is the automatic Patek Philippe Caliber 315 with center seconds, 30 jewels and a 21k rotor and stamped with the Geneva Seal.
Strap is black Patek Philippe crocodile with an 18k Patek tang buckle.
