Description
The Patek Philippe reference 2526 is a very important wristwatch because it contained Patek's first automatic winding caliber. The 2526 was introduced to the public in 1953 and production was limited to only 480 watches in yellow gold. The 2526 is also significant because Patek took the occassion of their first automatic winding caliber to also introduce a massive, domed screw on caseback.

This particular example is extremely rare given the Patek factory custom dial with the inscription: "DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU". The dial is cream colored enamel with applied hour markers and gold dauphine hands and subsidiary seconds.

Case is solid 18k yellow gold with dimensions of 35mm diameter by 12mm thick. The case metal remains intact after more than 50 years... this watch looks never to have been polished.

Movement is the Patek Philippe automatic winding Caliber 12 - 600 AT with 30 jewels, Gyromax balance, adjusted to heat/cold and 5 positions, free-sprung Breguet balance and stamped with the Geneva Seal.
