Description
Note that this watch is part of a special limited edition series of "Relief" watches from 2006/7 and has a special dial with gold numbers instead of the normal luminous numbers. "Relief" is also engraved in the caseback. This is watch number 1X of the limited series.
Your first reaction, when you hold this watch, is that this much gold must be worth more than the price of the watch! For those of you who have not beheld a King Conquistador Cortez in the metal, this watch is mammoth, which is a good thing... Probably the rarest current production Franck Muller model, this watch might be more aptly named "Killer Cortez" than "King Cortez". Strap this watch on, and you will impress anyone and everyone who sees it, including yourself. I have this watch in my own collection, and I have a hard time not wearing it.
The case is the story here, and this one is cast from 18k red gold with dimensions of 44mm square by 15.5mm thick. Overall length, from lug tip to lug tip, is 59mm. This beautifully sculpted case also features oversized lugs with massive screws to secure the strap, sapphire crystal and screw down crown. The case is ergonomically curved for comfort.
Dial is silver with fine guilloche, gold exploding arabic numerals, blued luminous coated hands, and date.
Movement is a high quality, automatically winding Franck Muller caliber.
Medium brown Franck Muller premium quality alligator strap. The 18k red gold buckle is proportionate to the watch case.
I love mine, and the winner of this watch will also find it difficult to wear his or her other watches.
