Description
Here is a vintage Heuer Autavia, Ref. 11630 from ca 1972/73 in outstanding mint condition. Vintage Heuers have gained quite a bit in popularity and value in recent years, especially examples with original dials and components. The "Autavia" series of the Heuer chronographs has been among the more recent rising stars, in particular the ones in the "bull head" configuration, with the pushers located at the usual 2 @ 4 position and the crown located at 9.
Unlike most other chronographs, whether contemporary or vintage, this particular case design has established itself as one of the most original sports watches among collectors. There is a wonderful balance and personality about this massive watch, which measures at 43mm x 15mm, excluding the original crown.
One unique feature abut this watch is the presence of the two sub-registers with 12 hour counter (instead of the more common 30-minute counter)
The pristine and original dial is enhanced by the original mint red/luminous hands and the solid red chrono-seconds hand.
The uni-directional bezel is near mint with minimal signs of wear and looks beautifully crisp. The rotation of the bezel is solid and firm. The combination of the satin and polished finish of the cushion shaped stainless steel case completes the wonderful presence of this Autavia.
The 17 jewel automatic movement, calibre 12 is running smoothly, keeping good time.
