Description
The focus of the original Ikepod watch company was design, and to be sure they turned out several iconic models. They got serious with the Megapode, however, as this is a professional instrument for pilot's with no hint of superfluous flourishes.
The case and bracelet are matte titanium. The case is 46.5mm in diameter and features a slightly domed sappire crystal and mini sapphire viewing portal on the caseback. The crown on the right side of the case moves the slide rule, while the traditional crown and chronograph pushers have been moved to the left side of the case. Water resistant to 100 meters. The titanium bracelet features a double folding ("butterfly") deployant clasp and will fit up to an 8.25 inch wrist.
The movement is a heavily modified Valjoux 7750 with automatic winding and flyback chronograph.
The dial is very impressive. The slide rule and its indices form an "E6B" analog flight computer which enables pilots to calculate many variable which affect flying. Among other things, the E6B analog flight computer enables the calculation of: flying time, fuel consumption, effect of varying strengths of head and tail winds on airspeed, drag, etc. and fahrenheit to celsius conversion.
The subdials present the following information: constant seconds at 3 o'clock; 30 minute chronograph totalizer at 6 o'clock; 12 hour chronograph totalizer at 12 o'clock; second timezone (hour hand only) at 9 o'clock. There is a date display at 4 o'clock.
The Megapode is appropriately named! The watch is as new and will be delivered with operating instructions.
