Description
In an era where fashion dictates large watches, many manufacturers now make oversized tourbillon watches to appeal to the well heeled and stlylish watch consumer. Blancpain, ever the traditionalist, kept traditional case sizes and simple white dials in mind when they created this impressive tourbillon wristwatch with eight day power reserve and 18k yellow gold case.
The solid 18k gold case measures 34mm diameter by 7.9mm thick with a smooth and stepped bezel. Sapphire front and porthole display back crystals.
Dial is white enamel with applied roman numerals and golden hands. The one minute tourbillon is showcased in the upper dial cutaway area, and the inner rim of the circle has a seconds scale imprinted. The escapement has a needle pointer which traverses the seconds scale, serving as a seconds indicator. The 9 o'clock subdial displays the date, while the 6 o'clock scale shows how many of the 8 days of power reserve have been used (the hand moves from right to left).
Movement is the manual winding Blancpain Caliber 9 with 18 jewels, adjusted in five positions and with self-compensating balance spring. Blancpain uses movements from its sister company Piguet, which produces elite and highly respected calibers: 95% of which are reserved for Blancpain.
This watch is as new with box and papers.
