In their catalog, Breitling describes this watch as sporty and elegant... and you know what? They are right. This is a handsome watch, which is very generously proportioned, with a beautiful black dial and it's a limited edition of only 250 watches. I really have to resist the temptation to just keep this one for myself... must... resist... temptation...
The case is solid 18k yellow gold with dimensions of 41mm diameter by 14mm thick. Domed sapphire crystal which is glareproofed on both sides. Bezel is diver style: uni-directional and graduated with 60 (minute) hash marks and rider tabs for the '15', '30' and '45' minute positions. Crown is knurled for ease of grip, and case features protective shoulders to protect the screw down crown from shocks. Case back screws down. This case is water resistant to 100 meters.
Movement is the Breitling Caliber 49 which is automatic winding, with 22 jewels, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and with a minimum power reserve of 42 hours. This movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Dial is very nice looking. Color is black with applied golden hour markers and hands. The hands are filled with luminous for low light legibility. Speaking of legibility, the oversized date display provides easy reading of the date even for tired 50-something year old eyes. As a design touch, there are two concentric ring patterns: one which encircles the applied markers and the other which encircles the dial text toward the dial's center.
Bracelet is a full sized, solid 18k yellow gold Breitling Pilot style and will fit up to an 8.5 inch wrist.
This limited edition Breitling has a US Retail price of $27,250. The watch is new with box and papers.
