Description
Between 1999 through 2003, you could not buy an Explorer (also known as the Explorer One or Explorer 1) unless you paid a $2000 premium over its retail price. Rolex was making very few of them, and it was extremely popular in Asia, which is where they all went. Now Rolex makes more of them, and while not impossible to find, it is still a hard watch to find at a Rolex dealer and impossible to find at a discount.

The Explorer was invented for climbing Mount Everest (and it succeeded, thanks mostly to the climber!). The publicity from that achievement resulted in a much greater demand for Rolex watches around the world. Of all the so called "sports" Rolex watches, the Explorer is most similar to its original version. Stainless steel case is 36mm diameter with sapphire crystal and screw down crown. Bracelet is a Rolex Oyster bracelet with full links.

Movement is an automatic winding Rolex Caliber and is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer. Dial is black with applied hour markers and the famous "3-6-9" numeral configuration.

Watch is brand new with box and papers. This watch is from 'D' series production and the papers are dated December 2007. US Retail is $4250 and discounts at the retailer level are non existent.
