Description
The Rolex Datejust is the one watch to own, if you are only going to own one watch. It complements all wardrobe choices; it's sized just right at 36mm in diameter; it's water resistant to 100 meters; it keeps great time and will hold up to decades of use, and you can send it to Rolex for a service every five years or so, and it will come back looking new. What's not to like?
The Datejust is not a rare watch. Rolex has probably made over a million of them in the past 50 years. That said, when you look at them, some "pop" and some fall flat. This watch pops. The gold bezel and bracelet links do a great job setting off the blue dial just right.
Case is stainless steel with 18k yellow gold bezel and crown. Dimensions are 35.5mm diameter by 13mm thick. Acrylic crystal. Screw down crown operates smoothly and operates as it should.
Movement is the Rolex Caliber 1570 with automatic winding and date. The Caliber 1570 is the most accurate large series production automatic movement, with many movements still keeping time to within one or two seconds per day after 30 years. As you will see from the pictures below, the movement is in perfect condition.
Dial is original and is a really nice blue color with applied hour markers. Date at 3 o'clock. Original Rolex Jubilee bracelet with light to moderate stretch - still with years of steady use still remaining. Overall condition is mint.
