Description
Very rare, NOS, Omega " Lefty" Seamaster 200 SHOM (Service Hydrografique Oceanografique de la Marine), ref. 166.0177, from circa 1973.

This massive Omega dive watch was issued to the french research divers during the 1970's, and is actually less common than the iconic and highly collectable Omega "Ploprof" .

Adding to the rarity of this particular example is the placement of the crown on the left side of the case, ensuring ease of operation for left-handed divers. Another unique feature is the oversized orange sword-style minute hand.

The massive, and distinctive octagonal stainless steel case measures 42.5 mm in diameter, and features a uni-directional satin finish with mirror-polished, beveled edges, and oversized screw-down crown.

The dial is matte black, with luminous tritium markers, and matching original hands, which are protected by a thick mineral crystal. The ratcheting and bi-directional bezel is faceted, making it very easy to operate.

The copper colored automatic movement, calibre 1002 with date, runs smooth and accurately.

This impressive dive watch is in new old stock condition and has never been worn. It will be delivered on the original Omega heavy duty steel mesh bracelet, with spring flip-lock buckle.
