Description
Here is an early production vintage Rolex Submariner reference 6536 1 with wonderful and original gilt rail dial. Serial number 155XXX dates production to 1956. Inside case back has date stamp of III.57 which indicates that this watch left the Rolex factory during the third quarter of 1957. Inside case back is also stamped with the 6536/1 model number.
Original stainless steel case measures 38mm diameter by 16mm thick. Highly domed acrylic crystal. Case is in outstanding condition, with thick and even lugs and features the original bezel (very unusual after 50 years). The bezel insert is a Rolex replacement, but also from the 1950s/60s. The outside surface of the case back has some light scratches, but the case is otherwise free of any notable marks. Screw down crown operates well. Considering that this is a 50 year old purpose built tool watch, the case is in outstanding condition.
Original automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1030 with 25 jewels and adjusted to five positions and temperature. Rotor is the cool butterfly style of yesteryear. Movement is operating well and is clean.
Original black dial is a real treat! Featuring gilt printing and railroad track and original, untouched luminous this dial is beautiful.
Bracelet is Rolex riveted Oyster with 12 links. This Rolex Oyster bracelet has a ‘79’ code on the clasp. The bracelet is in mint condition with negligible stretch.
