Description
This is a spectacular collector’s piece! A completely original Rolex GMT Master reference 1675 that, in addition to the original box, Chronometer certificate, hang tag and original store purchase receipt, has all of the most desirable characteristics of a vintage GMT:
** original, untouched gilt dial with rail track and perfectly uniform and matching
patina
** pointed crown guards
** original small arrow tipped red 24 hour hand
The dial is just such a pleasure to examine. Completely original and untouched with light crazing, this black dial features perfectly matching patina on the hour markers and hands. As mentioned above, the dial also features gilt printing and rail track minutes chapter. Small arrow tipped red 24 hour hand. Date at 3 o’clock. These original dial and hands are in mint condition and beautiful.
Original case is stainless steel with dimensions of 39mm diameter by 12.5mm thick. Bezel is original as is the faded blue and red bezel insert. The bezel turns in both directions and with just the right amount of resistance. The crown screws down and operates perfectly. The crown guards are pointed, which is an important characteristic of the early GMT watches. Case is in mint condition and the lugs are fat.
Serial number is 623XXX which dates production to 1960. Inside case back is date stamped IV.60.
Original movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1560 with 25 jewels and adjusted to 5 positions and temperature. Movement is completely free of damage and is very clean and is running strong. Movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Bracelet is the riveted Rolex Oyster with 12 links and only very light stretch.
The original chronometer certificate records the matching movement number for the watch along with pertinent timing records. Timing certificate is dated July 1962 while the original purchase receipt from S. Brunati Horologerie in Zurich is dated July 29, 1963 which provides an interesting timeline for this watch as it moved from production to chronometer certification to retail sale.
This is a wonderful vintage GMT and will be a proud addition to the lucky buyer’s collection.
