Description
CLASSIC!, CLASSIC!, CLASSIC! Sports watches don't get more classic than the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona models produced in the 1960s through the 1980s. If you're a collector, you have seen pictures of these watches for sure. However, if you have never had one in your hands, or have never seen one on the wrist of a lucky owner, then you can not appreciate just how great looking these vintage Daytonas are.
This watch is a reference 6263 Oyster Cosmograph in stainless steel with black dial and contrasting silver sub dials which are just slightly darkening toward brown. The dial is, of course, 100% original and untouched, as are the hands (and everything else about this watch).
Original steel case measures 37mm diameter by 13.4mm thick, with acrylic crystal, screw down round pump style chronograph pushers and crown (all of which are operating properly and the chronograph resets to zero precisely and crisply). The case on this watch is really clean with sharp edges and fat and balanced lugs. Original bezel and insert with '50' to '200' Units Per Hour scale.
Serial number 2875XXX dates production to 1970.
Movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 727 with 17 jewels and adjusted to three positions. This is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer movement. The chronograph features column wheel construction.
Bracelet is Rolex Oyster reference 78350 with 12 links. Bracelet is in mint condition.
I rate this watch in mint plus condition overall and it is 100% original and authentic Rolex. Further, this watch will be delivered with November 1999 Rolex Service papers and Rolex box.
