Description
There is just something so classic, so traditional about gold. With the passing of years, no metal attains a richer hue than solid yellow gold. This vintage Rolex Cosmograph Daytona chronograph in gold with original and nice Paul Newman dial is just beautiful.
Original case is 14k yellow gold with dimensions of 37mm diameter by 13.5mm thick. Chronograph pushers are round pump style and are working perfectly, with a tight click and exact reset to the zero position. Bezel is original and has a “Units per Hour” scale from ‘50’ to ‘200’. The screw down crown is working as it should and screws down smoothly. Case is in mint condition.
Serial number 1534XXX dates production to 1966/67.
Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 722 with seventeen jewels and adjusted to three positions. This caliber features column wheel construction, which is acknowledged to be the superior mechanical and aesthetic approach to building a chronograph movement. The movement is clean and beautiful and running perfectly.
Original Paul Newman dial is cream color with black subdials and minutes/seconds chapter. In it’s day, when people were buying these watches in Rolex dealers, this dial was known as an exotic dial. Today, the Paul Newman Daytona (the watch and the dial) is the most coveted and collectable vintage watch in the world. This dial is guaranteed original and authentic. Dial is in perfect condition.
Bracelet is solid 14k Rolex riveted Oyster bracelet with 11 links and folding clasp. Bracelet is in mint+ condition with zero stretch.
