ROLEX 6240 DAYTONA STEEL

The reference 6240 Oyster Cosmograph was the first Rolex Daytona chronograph to feature screw down chronograph pushers. As such, it is an important and highly collectable vintage Rolex. This watch is 100% authentic and original and in mint, clean condition.
Original stainless steel case measures 38mm diameter by 14mm thick. Original bezel still features sharp factory edge. Original bezel insert features “Units per Hour” scale from ‘50’ to ‘200’. The screw down crown and screw down chronograph pushers all work perfectly, and the chronograph hands reset crisply to their zero positions. The lugs are symmetrical and uniform with sharp edges.

Serial number 1206XXX dates production to 1965. Inside case back is stamped with the ‘6240’ model number.

Original silver dial features a subtle radial (or sunburst) brush finish. Applied hour markers. The sub dials provide 30 minute and 12 hour chronograph totalizers and constant seconds. The sub dials are sunken, feature concentric guilloche, and their black color is just starting to lighten in color. The dial is 100% original, untouched and all of the hands are original and in mint condition. The dial is in mint condition. Significantly, the text at the very bottom of the dial starts and ends with the little ‘O’ character, also known as a "Sigma" dial.

Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 722 with 17 jewels and adjusted to 3 positions. The Caliber 722 was the first Rolex chronograph movement to feature the Microstella regulation system. The balance cock has the ‘ROW’ stamp, which shows that the movement was manufactured to Rolex’s high standards. The movement features column wheel construction and is clean and in excellent working order.
Bracelet is the Rolex Oyster reference 7835 with 357 end links.

The bracelet has 11 folded links and is in mint to mint plus condition.
