Description
The reference 6241 Rolex Daytona is a rarity, but especially so with the 18k gold case. This is a very collectable vintage Cosmograph Daytona, and a beautiful wristwatch by any and all definitions.
Original 18k yellow gold case measures 37mm diameter by 13.2mm thick. Acrylic crystal. Original 18k bezel has “Units Per Hour” scale that begins at ‘200’ and ends at ‘50’. Original screw down crown works perfectly, as do the round pump style chronograph pushers. The entire case is mint, very clean and completely original.
Serial number 1947XXX dates this watch’s production to 1968. Inside case back is correctly stamped 6241 and hallmarked 18k with all of the appropriate and correct markings.
Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 722-1 with 17 jewels and adjusted to 3 positions and temperature. Movement is perfectly clean and running strong. Chronograph hands reset to zero with good crisp action.
Original untouched perfect condition dial is a two color, “Panda” style Paul Newman “exotic” version, gold in color with contrasting black subdials and black peripheral minutes and seconds chapter (both with gold print).
Watch is on a high quality black crocodile strap with an authentic gold plated Rolex buckle.
I would grade this watch as mint plus overall, with the only minor issue of some light marks on the caseback. Guaranteed 100% original and authentic.
