Description
This Patek Philippe Calatrava reference 2509 R is one of the most elegant and beautiful vintage watches that we have seen. It's simplicity and its beauty are inextricably woven together; a genuine jolt to the pleasure center of a vintage watch collector's brain.
Let’s start with the large and gorgeous 18k rose gold case: the condition is spectacular, mint++, with crisp lines throughout and a combination satin brushed (sides) and mirror polished finish.
The caseback is screw down which is also satin brushed. The dimensions are 35mm in diameter by 8.6mm thick.
The slightly curved ("piepan") dial is silvered with a radiant sunburst finish and features applied rose gold markers, outer engraved minute markers, subsidiary crosshair dial and dauphine hands. The dial and hands are original and untouched.
Movement is the 18 jewel manual wind sunburst 12”’400, which has been adjusted to (5) five positions, as well as to heat and isochronism. It is in excellent working condition. This movement is double stamped with the Geneve Seal.
The watch is on a hand sewn Patek Philippe crocodile strap with an 18k gold Patek Philippe tang buckle. The watch will be delivered with its Extract from the Archives, which shows a production date of 1954 and a retail sales date of November 19, 1954.
