Description
“Ferrari Engineered by Officine Panerai” is how Ferrari and Panerai describe the new generation of Ferrari watches, as designed and manufactured by Panerai. The perpetual calendar is a high complication, in relation to the normal model line up from Panerai, known for simple, oversized and rugged watches. A perpetual calendar is a challenging complication, when you consider the micro mechanical marvel that is an automatic movement driving a calendar function that keeps track of the month and date FOREVER (even which year it is in the leap year cycle!). Most impressive and no question, one of the most useful complications that any watch can provide.
This FER00015 perpetual calendar is a limited edition of only 247 watches produced. Ferrari has chosen to commemorate its 60th anniversary with this timepiece, and the case back is specially engraved with a 60th Anniversary motif.
Panerai, as usual, delivers a phenomenal watch case. The “fit and finish” of a Panerai case is exemplary. This stainless steel case is cushion shaped, with dimensions of 45mm wide in both directions, by 17mm thick. The crystal is sapphire. The crown screws down and utilizes Panerai’s new bayonet technology. The crown is also engraved with the Ferrari prancing horse logo.
The movement is the automatic perpetual calendar Panerai Caliber OP XXII developed just for this watch. The movement features 21 jewels, beats at 28,800 beats per hour and has a 48 hour power reserve.
Dial is black with “Clous de Paris” engraving. The hands are luminous for legibility in low light environments. There is a seconds sub dial at 9 o’clock with red hand. The month and leap year cycle is displayed in the sub dial at 3 o’clock. The date is displayed in the 6 o’clock subdial. The dial is signed “Ferrari” with the prancing horse logo above.
The strap is black crocodile with red inner lining and with a steel Ferrari deployant clasp.
This watch is new and complete with the special, very impressive display boxes set, the second rubber stap, screwdriver, instruction manual, certificate, etc.. The US Retail Price of this limited edition watch is $29,800.
