Description
This 1970s Patek Philippe exudes 70’s sheik and style, while at the same time exhibiting Patek Philippe’s incomparable quality and class. We were excited to acquire this watch, as the reference 3588 1 is quite rare. This same style case and bracelet were much more commonly fitted with a quartz movement, whereas this watch has the superlative Patek Philippe automatic winding Caliber 28-255 with 36 jewels, adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and in 5 positions and stamped with the Geneva Seal. Wow!
The 18k yellow gold watch case is quite thin to be housing an automatic movement. Case dimensions are 36mm diameter by 7.2mm thick. The bezel is classic Patek hobnail. The finish alternates between brushed and polished surfaces. Crystal is sapphire. Case is constructed from three parts – bezel, case body and snap case back.
Dial is in original, untouched condition. The surface is radially brushed for a very subtle sunburst effect. Applied golden hour markers and baton hands. Simple, and simply beautiful.
The integral mesh bracelet is 18k gold and is full length and will fit up to an 8 inch wrist.
Watch is in mint condition and at some point went to Patek for a spa treatment, as evidenced by the Patek Philippe International Customer Service stick adhered to the caseback.
