Description
Here is a simple and elegant Patek Philippe Calatrava from the early 1970s, in 18k gold, at an affordable price. This particular reference 3420 has claw style lugs, which makes it unusual and gives it some subtle panache. Interestingly, Patek Philippe chose to use its finest anti-magnetic movement in this otherwise dress watch. I love this kind of twist, when it comes to vintage watches!
Case is 18k yellow gold with dimensions of 34mm diameter by 8mm thick. There is no bezel to speak of, on this watch, so you are basically wearing a dial… which is nice considering how great looking this dial is! Case back is a solid gold snap back. Crystal is bombe acrylic.
Dial is silvered and subtly brush finished (vertically). Applied golden baton style hour markers and baton hands. Subsidiary seconds dial. Like the rest of the watch, the dial is 100% original and untouched.
Movement is the anti-magnetic manual winding Patek Philippe Caliber 27-AM 400 with 18 jewels, adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and in 5 positions, and double stamped with the Geneva Seal. The movement is winding smoothly, beating strongly, and immaculately clean. The “AM” in the movement model number is for “anti-magnetic”.
Strap is a modern, new hand-sewn black Patek Philippe crocodile with modern 18k yellow gold Patek Philippe clasp.
Watch will be delivered with its original Patek box.
