Description
This Rolex orange hand Steve McQueen Explorer II is from early in the production, which is revealed not only by its serial number but also by the fact that the case has pointed crown guards and the distinctive fat numbers bezel. This watch also includes its original box and punched papers, along with copy of the original purchase receipt, Rolex Service Corp. service document from 1995 and original Rolex Explorer product booklet.

The original stainless steel case, as mentioned, features pointed crown guards (which are not identical to the pointed crown guards observed on GMTs) and the “fat” numbers bezel with the numbers engraved close to the inside edge of the bezel. Dimensions are 38mm diameter by 13.5mm thick. Crystal is sapphire. Original crown screws down and operates perfectly. Case is in mint condition.

Original movement is the automatically winding Rolex Caliber 1570 with 26 jewels, adjusted to 5 positions and temperature, and is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer. The movement is extremely clean and running well.

Original black dial has luminous with a nicely matching patina across the hour markers and hands. The dial is in mint+ condition (perfect) and hands are in mint condition.

Rolex Oyster bracelet reference 93150 with 11 links and flip-lock clasp in clean condition with light stretch.

Serial number 3804XXX dates production of this watch to 1972/73. To find this watch with original box and punch papers, along with other documents, is a rare find. This is a highly collectable early 1655 Explorer II Orange Hand.
