Description
Let me start by saying that the condition of this Rolex 1655 Steve McQueen Explorer II is extraordinarily good. It justifies a rare "Mint++" condition grade and retains its original, never polished, lines and contour. In fact, it appears never to have been worn! The lugs are FAT and the original case edges are SHARP and CRISP.

The Rolex Explorer II reference 1655 was the first Explorer II. It has a unique look in the history of Rolex watches, with its orange colored 24 hour second timezone hand, steel bezel with 24 hour scale and the hands and dial on the 1655 are unique to this model.

Original mint++ condition stainless steel case measures 38mm diameter by 14mm thick. The bezel has an engraved and brush finished 24 hour scale with black numbers. Screw down crown is operating perfectly. Acrylic crystal with cyclops. The case number is 7429XXX dates production to 1982.

Original dial is black with perfectly patinaed luminous hour markers and matching color original hands. Dial is in perfect condition. You can tell this watch is from the last series of 1655 production by the elongated shape of the Rolex coronet on the dial.

Original movement is Rolex Caliber 1570 26 jewel automatic winding caliber, adjusted to five positions and temperature. This movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer. Condition is clean and extra-mint. Movement is running strongly.

Interestingly, there are no watchmaker's service markings on the inside surface of the case back. We may have been the first to open this watch case, since the Rolex watchmakers sealed it in 1982. The watch certainly appears never worn and never worked on, cosmetically or mechanically. (It's running fine).

Bracelet is a Rolex Oyster bracelet reference 78360 with non flip lock clasp. Bracelet has 11 links and is in mint+ condition with no stretch.
