Description
This Radiomir is a beautiful wristwatch, with its tobacco color dial and golden hands, and its 47mm highly polished cushion shaped case with vintage inspired wire lugs. The good news is that this limited edition (of 1938 pieces) watch is in perfect, new condition and is complete with box and papers. Only the 'I' series of production of this watch denotes the "1938" limited edition Radiomir, whereas the normal Radiomir model is manufactured without production limitation.
Case details: 47mm in width and 13.7mm thick; slightly domed sapphire crystal; large, crown, signed with the Panerai logo; engraved case back with limited edition number; water resistant to 100 meters.
Dial is tobacco brown and is a "sandwich" dial, meaning that the brown surface of the dial lays atop a luminous plate. The numerals and hour markers are cut out from the brown surface, exposing the luminous underneath. This unusual dial construction produces a visually appealing depth, which as far as I know only Panerai offers. The hands are golden and also with luminous.
Remember, Officine Panerai was founded specifically to make watches for Italian Navy combat divers, and while the company has modernized, the watch designs have stayed true to their heritage. So, if you are a combat diver, you need your watch to keep accurate time and be legible, even deeply underwater and at night... hence Panerai's emphasis, to this day, on luminosity.
The manual winding Panerai Caliber OP X has 17 jewels, beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour, has a Glucydur balance with Nivarox spring, Incabloc shock protection, and power reserve of 56 hours.
Strap is the light brown and highly water resistant Panerai leather with large, pre-Vendome style Panerai tang clasp.
Watch is in new condition.
