Description
In the land of complicated vintage chronographs, collector’s grade examples are few and far between, and almost exclusively locked away in the safes of watch collectors.

Many of these elusive complicated vintage chronographs are from Rolex, like the "Jean Claude Kiley" models or from Patek Philippe, like the references 1518, 2499 and 3970.
The common denominator of these “grail-watches” is the stratospheric price tag which usually starts north of $100,000.

So, to find such a watch from a true industry stalwart as Universal Geneve which is universally respected for its vintage chronographs, for under $10,000 and in solid gold, with original dial, in house movement, overall mint condition… you guessed it…is just about impossible.

The Universal Geneve TriCompax chronograph with triple date and moon phase rates as one of the best of breed vintage watches. We are very excited to offer this wonderful Universal Geneve Tri-Compax Moon phase chronograph in 14k yellow gold in such fine condition.

The TriCompax's classic and iconic looks are entirely original to this type of watch and have inspired a battalion of legendary watch manufactures, such as AP, Rolex, Patek, JLC and many more..

The 14k yellow gold case measures 36 mm in diameter by 12.7 mm and features flat chronograph pushers and a very thin bezel, which adds more visual presence to this watch. The case is truly in mint condition and is crisp, with sharp edges and all metal intact.

The dial is simply breath taking. Perfectly balanced layout of all functions; moon phase at 12 0’clock, day-date at 2 o’clock and 10 o’clock, chronograph sub registers at 3-6-9 o’clock, a tall order for a dial with such many features, yet the dial on this Universal is surprisingly uncrowded and perfectly balanced!

The dial is silvered with a slight patina and is in absolutely 100% original condition, never touched or re-touched, in near mint condition with a few slight aging spots. The markers are applied solid gold stick markers, minute and hour hands are feuille style and original to the watch. The chronograph hands are blued style and original.

The movement is the manual wind caliber 287 in near mint condition. The is a column wheel chronograph movement.

This watch is fitted with a solid 14k yellow gold period bracelet which will fit a wrist of about 7".

A wonderful piece in absolutely original condition!

Priced at well under 10k, this Universal Geneve should be a serious candidate for your collection.
