Patek Philippe is a little bit like that guy or girl in high school who graduated as valedictorian, was the captain of the popular varsity sports teams, and had the best looking dates, and rode around in a Porsche when everyone else was driving ten year old beaters. In other words, Patek Philippe not only does everything right, they also do everything better than everyone else. That goes for their normal production watches, and that goes for the pieces that they make with diamonds… like this outstanding reference 5071 chronograph.
The sculpted, massive 18k white gold case measures 42mm diameter by 13mm thick. The big story is that the entire case is diamond set with baguette diamonds. The bezel, lugs and case sides are all completely diamond set – even between the lugs! The buckle is also diamond set. The crystals, front and display back are sapphire
Dial is black with diamond hour markers and white gold leaf style hands. There is a subdial for the chronograph 30 minutes totalizer and for constant seconds.
Movement is the manual winding PP Caliber 27, clearly visible through the sapphire display back, proudly displaying its Geneva Seal. 28 jewels in this beauty, which beats at a leisurely 18,000 BPH... which helps to extend the power reserve to approximately 56 hours.
