Description
This Rolex Datejust is one of the more interesting designs in Rolex history. I’m not sure if it’s officially or unofficially named “Zebra” but that is what Rolex aficionados are calling it, for obvious reasons. The black stripes on the dial, interspersed with diamond stripes and diamond hour markers, make for one heck of a great looking watch. The diamond bezel doesn’t hurt either!
The 36mm diameter case is solid 18k white gold. Of course, the big story with this case is the solid white gold bezel set with square diamonds on top and set with smaller round diamonds on the side. The case sides and 18k white gold end links are mirror polished. The crown screws down and the case is water resistant to 100 meters.
It’s futile to describe the dial… so I refer you to the pictures below. The two salient words that describe this dial are “interesting” and “beautiful”.
Movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 3135 with 31 jewels, Breguet balance spring, and Rolex’s microstella regulating screws. Date is provided and displayed in the 3 o’clock position on the dial. Movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Strap is Rolex Stinray synthetic rubber with 5 diamonds on both sides of the strap and on an 18k white gold deployant clasp.
US Retail Price of this marvelous timepiece (it’s a work of art as much as it is a watch) is $70,600. Watch is new with box and papers.
